Hyundai Ioniq

Hyundai Ioniq 2017 is a compact hybrid and all-electric model and is a newcomer to the world of highly-efficient cars.

It is a five-door hatchback that makes its way to the most fuel-efficient and “green” cars. The most noteworthy thing is its powertrains. It offers three different powertrains: hybrid, all-electric, and plug-in hybrid. Moreover, it is the first model to add a battery-electric and contains no engine. The major competition it faces is with the Toyota Prius. It competes Toyota on the basis of fuel-economy ratings and is aiming to beat many mid-sized Sedans and plug-in hybrid models too.

According to Hyundai, the Ioniq Hybrid is going to be the best-selling model. Together with the other brand Kia, it aims to become the world’s second largest volume seller of fuel-efficient cars. Ioniq shows a major investment in achieving this goal by 2020.The car is all-new and based on 4 doors. It is going to be the world’s first car to offer a choice of full EV, gas-electric hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrain, and is expected to bring revolution in the car industry.

The car is built on a new platform that combines high-quality steel and aluminum for creating a strong and light-weight structure with perfect aerodynamics and excellent crash-resistance.

Outside, its structure is based on Elantra sedan. The design is dedicated and promising. The headlights sweep sharply in the fenders. Electric and plug-in models have low beam LED headlights. Body sides are flat and the windshield is steeply placed. The body features horizontally placed accent lines that lead to the tail lights. The car has a drag coefficient of 0.24 which makes its way to the lowest numbers of drag coefficient.

Inside, the car has low and well-placed front seats. The back seat can accommodate two adults. Door covers are made of plastic including volcanic stone and powdered wood. Interior materials are mostly recycled materials. The car is mostly used as a transport for one or two people. It is not used as a family car that accommodates a complete family. Hyundai reports that it was designed to be thrilling fun to drive. The Hybrid and Plug-In models use a multi-link rear suspension.

Whereas, the Electric model uses a simple torsion-beam rear axle making more space for its battery. The car has seven airbags which are well provided with safety and driver assistance features. These features include blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, forward collision warnings and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. The high technology available inside the car makes it ideal for car buyers.

Ioniq features a directly injected 1.6-Liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 104 horsepower and 109-pound feet of torque. Between the engine, there is a 32-kilowatt electric motor that produces 43 horsepower with a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. The engine produces a maximum output of 139 horsepower, with front-wheel drive as a medium.

It is never easy to release three different electrified variants on a single platform. But thanks to Hyundai Ioniq for entertaining us with this facility. The gas-electric hybrid produces 104-horsepower with a 1.6-liter gas engine. This engine is mated to a 43 horsepower electric motor and a 1.56-kWh battery. The pure-electric driving mode will be made available with a lower range.
