Volkswagen Jetta 2017 is a decent compact car and the best-selling car of Volkswagen. Appearing after seven years on the market, Jetta’s take on a three-box compact still looks a little old-fashioned to us. Inside, the same approach keeps us from getting jazzed about the interior, but the conservative approach has its benefits, it adds to the good outward visibility of the Jetta.
The Jetta Hybrid is gone this year and the troubled turbo-diesel is getting a deserved timeout, but what’s left is promising enough. It competes with heavy hitters such as the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cruze and Mazda 3. With its excellent features, it is expected to give a serious competition to them.
Volkswagen Jetta 2017-EXTERIOR
Outside, its basic look is simple, rectangular, being a three-box compact sedan with the reliable styling cues. This has some advantages, including good rearward visibility. Its slab sides and a corporate VW nose that appears unchanged seem a bit past their prime.
Up front, a three-bar grille dips down into the bumper and its reshaped fog lights and headlights. At the rear, a spoiler on the trailing edge of the trunk lid along with LED taillights, which are available on the GLI and Hybrid versions, give the Jetta a more premium look, perhaps hinting a bit at its big brother, Audi A4.
Volkswagen Jetta 2017-INTERIOR
Inside Volkswagen Jetta 2017, the cabin is just as serious and straightforward with big round gauges, and the shifter capped with a stripe of metallic trim. Whereas, the leather seats have sporty horizontal ridges. Changes include a multi-function steering wheel with expanded controls and a larger 6.5-inch touchscreen on certain models.
Moreover, it gets a lower ride height, optional black 18-inch wheels, and red-painted brake calipers, along with red stitching on the sports seats and the flat-bottomed steering wheel. The new Volkswagen Jetta 2017 is one of the largest compact sedans on the market, and thanks to its boxy shape and interior layout, it’s even more spacious than some mid-size sedans.
